This is the biggest plant machine I have ever photographed. It's the Transporter that moves the Space Shuttle from its assembly shed (see background) to the launch pad.
These are two of the track links from the transporter, they weigh 1 ton each. When loaded the machine is carrying 18 million pounds of weight!
Here's something you don't see in the UK, a mini digger with an extending dipper. I took this picture in Florida during November 2008. Note the lack of cab glass due to the heat.
You don't see Deere machines in the UK either. This backhoe loader was being used to install new water mains. Note the single front bucket ram and wide legs at the back.
I saw a lot of big wheel loaders and graders being used in Florida. This one is a John Deere. The soil is very sandy in this area.
This big Hitachi Sumitomo crawler crane was being used to build a new supermarket. I didn't see any dumpers which is rather odd.
It has a Petter PH2 engine and a dirty great home made log splitter which Adrian has added
Adrian says "I've had the digger dumper about 20 years never done any maintenance on the engine or dumper. Starts first time on swing by hand start"
1970 Benford dumper with a 2 cylinder Lister engine, four wheel drive and hydraulic tip. It's owner currently needs a steering box for it.
Ben from Camborne emailed these pictures of a rare George Fowell dumper.
The Fowell has been in this shed for many years and Ben needs to find a new home for it. It probably dates from the 1930's
